Chet ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Chet mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account Information

• Apple ID authentication data (name, email if shared)
• Display name and username you choose
• Profile information you optionally provide
• Venmo handle (if you choose to link it for IOU settlements)

User-Generated Content

• Seasons (leagues/groups) you create or join
• Propositions (wagers) you create
• Wagers you place on propositions
• Voice recordings when using voice input features (processed on-device, not stored)

Device Information

• Device type and operating system version
• Unique device identifiers
• App usage statistics

Usage Data

• Features you use within the App
• Time spent on different screens
• Interaction patterns

ESPN Public Data

• We retrieve publicly available sports data (scores, odds, team information) from ESPN's public data.
• This data is not personal information

Apple Sign In

• Authentication status and user identifier provided by Apple
• Name and email only if you choose to share them

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the Service: Create and manage your account, enable season creation and participation, process wagers, and display leaderboards
• Improve the App: Understand how users interact with features to improve functionality
• Communicate: Send important notices about your account or changes to the App
• Ensure Safety: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
• Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws and regulations

• Your display name and username are visible to other users in seasons you join
• Your wager history within a season is visible to other season participants
• Leaderboard rankings are visible to season participants

• Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for authentication, database, and cloud storage services
• Apple: Sign in with Apple for authentication

We may disclose your information if required to:

• Comply with a legal obligation
• Protect and defend our rights or property
• Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing
• Protect the personal safety of users or the public

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Specifically:

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account
• Season and wager data: Retained as long as the season exists
• Voice recordings: Processed on-device in real-time and not stored

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication via Apple Sign In
• Firebase security rules restricting data access
• No storage of sensitive financial information (Chet tracks IOUs only, not real money)

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you

Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information

Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information

Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format

Opt-Out: Opt out of certain data processing activities

The App is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

When you use voice input features:

• Speech is processed using Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework
• Voice audio is converted to text locally on your device
• We do not store, transmit, or have access to your voice recordings
• Only the transcribed text is used to create propositions

The App may contain links to third-party services (such as Venmo for IOU settlements). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Chet tracks IOU wagers only. No real money is collected, processed, or distributed through the App. Chet is a social tool for friends to track friendly wagers and does not facilitate actual gambling or monetary transactions.
